IS THERE A DIVINE PURPOSE FOR YOUR MARRIAGE?

BY: DEBORAH SKOMBA

Is there a divine purpose for your marriage? The answer is a resounding Yes!

Marriage is more than just a union between two people; it has a higher purpose and according to Creation Therapy, every marriage has a divine purpose and a preordained destiny that is designed to create balance, build bridges, and bring about spiritual growth. It is up to each individual couple to discover this purpose and fulfill it to the best of their abilities. This purpose may not always be clear, but it is there, waiting to be discovered and fulfilled.

Creation Therapy aims to help individuals achieve emotional healing and spiritual growth through biblical principles, clinical counseling and coaching techniques. It seeks to remove the root of issues and not apply a temporary band-aid.

In any relationship, it's important for each individual to have a strong sense of self and to understand their own needs, desires, and values. Without this understanding, it can be challenging to navigate the complexities of a committed partnership.

At Heart to Heart Ministry and Coaching, I have found that by focusing on individual’s temperament and biblical truth, couples are better equipped to support each other through all seasons of life. This includes both the good times and the more challenging times that inevitably arise in all seasons of life.

We also recognize the importance of building and maintaining a marriage that can withstand the test of time. This involves identifying shared goals and values, effective communication, and a willingness to adapt and grow together as individuals and as a couple.

Ultimately, we believe that a healthy and fulfilling marriage is a journey that requires ongoing effort and attention from both partners. By prioritizing individual growth, mutual support, and a shared commitment to building a strong and lasting union, couples can create a relationship that is both meaningful and enduring.

Couples learn how to work together to create a harmonious balance that is beneficial to themselves, their families, and their communities. They do this through biblical principles, by acknowledging their Temperament strengths and recognizing it’s weaknesses, develop spiritual growth and knowing their core values to help build a bridge together for a better tomorrow.

During my monthly virtual gathering, "Sip, Tip and Talk," we discuss the challenges and joys of being married Christians. We share our insights on important lessons about love, forgiveness, humility, and sacrifice. It's a secure environment where we can share practical tips and engage in real conversations about life. We delve into the good, the bad, and the ugly, and use it to our advantage by embracing our God-given purpose in life and marriage.

Here's how we achieve this:

We establish shared goals for the future.

We hold mutual respect for one another.

We communicate openly and honestly.

We feel comfortable being vulnerable with each other.

We focus on our strengths.

By practicing honest communication and demonstrating a willingness to learn and grow, you can discover the distinct purpose that God has for your marriage and collaborate to fulfill it. Prayer and discussions with the Holy Spirit can assist in maintaining your commitment to your marriage.

It's crucial to acknowledge that this is a gradual process that necessitates time and dedication, but the benefits are invaluable. You're constructing a beautiful and profound union that will last a lifetime.

Remember, from a Christian perspective, a marriage that fulfills its divine destiny is centered around Christ and viewed not just as a union between two individuals, but as a "threefold cord that is not easily broken. "Ecclesiastes 4:12b KJV
